Since nslookup blows…this is the best method to install DIG on Windows (x64 – is there any other?) from the ISC BIND package…

  1. http://www.isc.org/downloads/
  2. Download the 64-bit BIND package
note: it is dependent on the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package, which is included in the package or can be downloaded from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679#
  3. Extract the zip file that you just downloaded
  4. Copy dig.exe, host.exe, libbind9.dll, libdns.dll, libeay32.dll, libisc.dll, libisccfg.dll, liblwres.dll, and libxml2.dll from the extracted zip to %systemroot%\system32
note: you will need to provide admin creds or do so using an admin shell
  5. Get out of your seat (assuming you’re seated) and do a happy dance!
